Finn Allen Hits Fastest 150 in T20, Breaks Gayle’s Sixes Record

New Zealand opener Finn Allen has shattered the world record for most sixes in a T20 innings, smashing 19 sixes during a blistering knock of 151 off just 51 balls for the San Francisco Unicorns in the Major League Cricket (MLC) in the USA. His innings came against Washington Freedom at the Oakland Coliseum in the opening match of the season.

Finn Allen surpassed the previous record of 18 sixes in a T20 innings, jointly held by Chris Gayle and Sahil Chauhan. His ferocious display included 5 fours along with the 19 maximums, as he raced to a half-century in 20 balls, a century in 34 balls (the fastest in MLC and by any Kiwi in T20s), and a 150 in just 49 balls now the fastest in T20 history.

151 Runs just 51 balls

Notably, Finn Allen struck five sixes in the 17th over alone to reach the 19-sixes milestone, before being dismissed on the first ball of the 18th over. His strike rate stood at a staggering 296.08.

San Francisco posted 269/5 the highest team total in men’s T20s on American soil helped by supporting knocks from Hasan Khan (38) and Sanjay Krishnamurthy (36). In response, Washington Freedom were bundled out for 146 in 13.1 overs.

Earlier this year, Finn Allen also broke Brendon McCullum’s T20I record for New Zealand with a 137-run knock against Pakistan, which included 16 sixes matching Afghanistan’s Hazratullah Zazai.
